Hygienic Liquid Batch Measurement | Application Brief
Application planning | Manufacturer reference and ProSense commentary
Plan hygienic liquid batch measurement around the measurements, communications and operator response your site needs. Explore an application concept and the questions to settle before supply.

JUJEA identifies food and pharmaceutical flow measurement and automated manufacturing as application areas. This example considers batch specification; it does not certify a process, instrument or installation.
Specify the complete transfer task
A batch application begins with the liquid, the target quantity and the acceptable delivery tolerance. Map the vessel, pump, valves and measurement position. A flow total is one input to the task; valve closing time, liquid remaining in pipework and the repeatability of the transfer also influence the delivered quantity.
Separate observation from batch stopping
A logging-only system records what passed through the meter. A batch-control arrangement must also define how the target is entered, who can change it and which device issues the stop command. The sequence needs a clear response for no flow, lost signal, interrupted transfer and restart.
Plan for cleaning and product changeover
Wetted materials, seals, process connections and cleaning conditions need review against the actual product and cleaning procedure. A sanitary-style connection alone does not prove hygienic suitability. Include access for inspection and maintenance in the layout and obtain documentation required by the site.
Validate the process at real conditions
An illustrative acceptance plan compares several delivered batches with a suitable reference across the intended operating range. Record the liquid, temperature, batch size and operating sequence. Any overrun compensation should be tested for the actual valve and pump arrangement rather than assumed from the meter specification.
