Water Detection Around Edge IT Cabinets | Application Brief
Application planning | Manufacturer reference and ProSense commentary
Plan water detection around edge it cabinets around the measurements, communications and operator response your site needs. Explore an application concept and the questions to settle before supply.

Monnit's data-centre white paper describes a customer whose temperature and humidity monitoring did not detect a plumbing leak. It reports adding water-detection sensors with a gateway. This is a manufacturer-reported example, not a ProSense customer outcome.
Look beyond the cabinet footprint
A small edge IT room can be affected by water arriving from an adjacent room, a cooling drain or a service route. Start by drawing plausible water pathways and the assets that could be affected. Place detection points around the risk being monitored, rather than assuming one sensor in the centre covers the whole space.
Combine the reading with a response plan
The proposed concept is compatible water-detection sensors, a gateway with a suitable connection and notifications to the responsible team. Temperature and humidity can provide additional context, but they should not be treated as substitutes for water detection. A monitored condition still needs a defined human response.
Consider shared points of failure
If the monitoring gateway depends on the same network or power affected by the event, that dependency should be documented. Discuss backup arrangements and notification of missing data where supported. Cellular connectivity is a design option to assess, not a guarantee that alerts will remain available during every outage.
Test the whole alarm route
An acceptance exercise should trigger each accessible sensing point using an approved test method, verify the displayed location and check that the intended recipient receives and acknowledges the event. Record dry-out or reset behaviour and who restores monitoring. This application brief promises no uptime or avoided-loss figure.
