DRAGINO LoRaWAN Solar Powered Open/Close Door Sensor is a solar-powered LoRaWAN door sensor designed to remotely monitor door open and close status. It records door opening activity, including opening counts and duration, and can transmit this information to an IoT server through a LoRaWAN network. The DS03A-LS combines a solar panel with a 3000 mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery, making it suitable for long-term outdoor monitoring applications where regular battery replacement is undesirable.

The DRAGINO LoRaWAN Solar Powered Open/Close Door Sensor provides wireless monitoring of door open and close status for IoT applications. It communicates through a LoRaWAN network, allowing door status, opening duration and opening counts to be viewed through an IoT server.

The DRAGINO LoRaWAN Solar Powered Open/Close Door Sensor is the solar-powered version of the DS03A-LB/LS series. Dragino specifies the LS model with a solar panel and 3000 mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery, rather than the 8500 mAh Li/SOCl2 battery specified for the LB version.

The solar charging arrangement makes the LS variant particularly suitable for outdoor installations where access for routine battery replacement may be inconvenient.

How it works

  • The sensor detects whether a door is open or closed.
  • Door events can be transmitted to an IoT server through the LoRaWAN network.
  • The device sends periodic data every 2 hours and can also send information for individual door open/close events.
  • Door opening counts and the duration of the latest opening can be recorded.
  • Users can disable individual event uplinks and instead have the sensor count events and report them periodically.
  • The datalog function stores information when the LoRaWAN connection is unavailable and allows the stored data to be uploaded when communication is restored.
  • An open alarm can be configured to generate an alarm when the door remains open for a specified period.
  • The built-in solar panel charges the rechargeable battery used by the DS03A-LS.
  • Bluetooth v5.1 and LoRaWAN remote configuration are supported.
  • Firmware can be updated wirelessly using OTA functionality.

Why choose this product?

  • Solar-powered operation: The DS03A-LS combines a solar panel with a 3000 mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery for long-term operation.
  • Suitable for outdoor monitoring: Dragino specifies the sensor for outdoor use and describes it as having a weatherproof enclosure.
  • Remote monitoring: Door activity can be transmitted to an IoT server over LoRaWAN.
  • Reduced maintenance requirements: Solar charging can reduce the need for routine battery replacement compared with a conventional battery-only installation.
  • Event recording: The sensor can record door opening counts and the duration of the latest opening.
  • Data retention: Datalogging helps retain information during temporary LoRaWAN network interruptions.
  • Remote configuration: Bluetooth and LoRaWAN configuration options simplify setup and ongoing management.
