DRAGINO LoRaWAN Distance Detection Sensor with Solar Power Option is a LoRaWAN distance detection sensor that uses ultrasonic technology to measure the distance between the sensor and a flat object. It supports a measurement range of 280 mm to 7500 mm with an accuracy of ±(1 cm + S × 0.3%), where S is the measured distance. The sensor uses internal temperature compensation and transmits measured values wirelessly to a LoRaWAN IoT server. The DDS75-LS combines a solar panel with a 3000 mAh Li-ion battery while DDS75-LB is operated by 8500mAh or 19000mAh Li/SOCl2 battery for long-term outdoor monitoring.

The DRAGINO LoRaWAN Distance Detection Sensor with Solar Power Option is designed for remote distance and level monitoring in IoT applications. It measures the distance between the sensor and a flat object using ultrasonic technology, then sends the measured value wirelessly to a LoRaWAN IoT server.

The sensor has a specified detection range of 280 mm to 7500 mm and a measurement angle of 40°. Dragino also specifies internal temperature compensation to improve the reliability of distance measurements.

How it works

  • The sensor uses ultrasonic technology to measure the distance between the sensor and the target object.
  • Internal temperature compensation is used as part of the measurement process.
  • The measured distance is transmitted wirelessly to a LoRaWAN IoT server.
  • The sensor supports LoRaWAN 1.0.3 Class A communication.
  • Bluetooth v5.1 can be used for configuration, while LoRaWAN remote configuration is also supported.
  • Firmware can be updated wirelessly using OTA functionality.
  • AT commands can be used to change parameters.
  • Configuration changes can also be made through LoRaWAN downlink.
  • The DS75-LS uses a solar panel and 3000 mAh Li-ion battery for its power supply.

Why choose this product?

  • Solar-powered operation: The LS model combines a solar panel with a rechargeable 3000 mAh Li-ion battery, making it suitable for installations where regular battery replacement is inconvenient.
  • Non-contact measurement: Ultrasonic sensing allows distance to be measured without physical contact with the monitored object.
  • Long measurement range: The specified 280 mm to 7500 mm range covers a broad range of distance monitoring requirements.
  • Remote data transmission: Measurements can be sent to a LoRaWAN IoT server for remote monitoring.
  • Outdoor suitability: The sensor has an IP66 waterproof enclosure.
  • Flexible configuration: Bluetooth, LoRaWAN downlink and AT commands provide several configuration methods.

Benefits

The DRAGINO Solar Powered LoRaWAN Distance Detection Sensor can help automate distance measurements that would otherwise require manual inspection. Its wireless LoRaWAN connection allows measurements to be incorporated into a remote monitoring system, while the solar-powered design can be useful at outdoor locations without convenient access to mains power.

For liquid level applications, the sensor can be installed above the monitored surface to measure the distance to the liquid. The same ultrasonic measurement principle can also be used for object presence, parking and other distance-based monitoring applications.
