Battery-Powered Cellular Soil & Temperature Sensor – Industrial DS18B20 Probe

The Battery-Powered NB-IoT Soil & Temperature Sensor (D20/D20S-LB Cellular Version) is a rugged industrial sensor designed for remote environmental monitoring, horticulture, agriculture, compost management, and smart farming applications.

Using a precision DS18B20 stainless-steel temperature probe, this sensor provides accurate readings from –55°C to +125°C, with typical accuracy of ±0.5°C. The long cable allows the probe to be buried underground or inserted into compost, soil, tanks, or insulated areas, while the main unit remains secure above ground.

Unlike LoRaWAN variants, the NB-IoT Cellular version transmits data using NB-IoT / LTE-M (Cat-M1) networks, making it ideal for installations where LoRaWAN coverage isn’t available — while still keeping power consumption extremely low for multi-year battery life.

The sensor features BLE configuration, wireless OTA firmware updates, temperature alarms, and onboard data logging that stores readings when network coverage is temporarily unavailable, automatically forwarding them when the connection is restored.

Powered by an 8500mAh Li-SOCl₂ battery, this sensor is engineered for long-term deployment with up to 5 years of maintenance-free operation depending on reporting intervals.

For advanced users, the sensor can also be integrated into your own software system using standard NB-IoT payloads (MQTT, UDP, HTTP).
