ProSense Project Spotlight: Defining Cold-Room History and Alarm Requirements

ProSense project spotlight | Dashboard and alarm setup requirements | Customer anonymised

After activating a supplied Dragino cellular temperature device, a customer asked for a clear current-temperature view, historical graphs and an alarm when the cold room became too warm. The room was used intermittently, which added an important question: how should monitoring behave when the equipment is intentionally switched off?

ProSense Project Spotlight: Defining Cold-Room History and Alarm Requirements - application planning overview

The requirement behind the sensor

Device activation is one milestone. A usable monitoring service also needs an agreed measurement location, understandable history, a tested notification route and a response owner. These details make the difference between receiving data and knowing what action to take.

What the customer asked for

The enquiry identified temperature history, a high-temperature threshold, SMS preference and the behaviour of alerts during inactive periods. This is a real setup discussion. It is not a claim that SMS delivery or all dashboard functions had already passed acceptance testing.

Separate temperature alarms from missing data

For an intermittent cold room, a warm reading during a planned shutdown may be expected. A device that stops reporting is a different condition. The setup should define active monitoring periods, who can change them, how overdue readings are handled and how monitoring is restored before the room returns to use.

A practical acceptance test

As a proposed commissioning process, verify a current reading, check that history uses the correct time zone, trigger an agreed test alarm and confirm the intended person receives it. Record what happens during a communication interruption and a planned shutdown. Thresholds and response times should be selected for the customer's actual operation.

Project status

The supplied device had been activated and follow-up requirements were being defined. Final alarm delivery, dashboard acceptance and operating procedures remain matters to confirm. No product-loss prevention or compliance outcome is claimed.
