ProSense Project Spotlight: Commissioning Rural Flow and Tank Monitoring
ProSense project spotlight | Supply and commissioning support | Customer anonymised
An ongoing rural water project has brought together flow measurement, tank-level sensing and Dragino connectivity. The customer's practical objective is to understand water use and recognise sustained flow that may warrant checking a trough, pipe or valve.

Start with the operational question
A dashboard is useful when its trends answer a field question. For this project, the important distinction is between normal water use and flow continuing for longer than expected. A trend can prompt an investigation; it does not identify the cause of a leak by itself.
What the project has involved
Customer correspondence confirms field-device deployment and a working flowmeter reading, alongside continuing setup work for other measurements. Expansion requests included additional pipe sizes, cellular level monitoring and an I/O-controller trial. Those requests are separate from proof that every planned function has been commissioned.
Three commissioning checks
First, check the measurement: the sensor technology and mounting arrangement must suit the tank or pipe. Second, check the conversion: pulse scaling, units and level reference need to match the installation. Third, check the data path: a device registering on a network does not prove that a valid measurement has reached the intended dashboard.
Turning readings into decisions
For a new installation, agree a test flow or known level change and verify the resulting trend. Confirm timestamps, reporting gaps and how a user will respond to an unusual pattern. Remote actuator trials need their own control design, local protections and acceptance checks.
Project status
Supply and commissioning support are ongoing. This spotlight describes practical project experience and validation steps; whole-system completion, leak reduction and financial savings have not been verified.
