MONNIT Wireless Sensor Site Survey Tool helps installers assess wireless signal conditions before deploying ALTA sensors. Operating at 433 MHz, it connects with an ALTA gateway and performs an RF signal test at the proposed sensor location. The tool provides a TRUESIGNAL assessment and indicates whether the location achieves a Pass, Poor or Fail result based on the selected reliability setting. It is particularly useful for large buildings, warehouses and other installations where obstructions or distance may affect wireless communication.

Quantity

The MONNIT Wireless Sensor Site Survey Tool provides a practical way to evaluate wireless network conditions during the planning and installation of an ALTA sensor system.

Rather than installing sensors first and discovering communication problems afterwards, the site survey tool can be positioned at proposed sensor locations and used to test communication with the selected ALTA gateway. This provides an indication of whether the location has suitable RF conditions for the intended installation.

The MONNIT Wireless Sensor Site Survey Tool is the 433 MHz version of the ALTA Site Survey Tool. Monnit identifies 433 MHz as the applicable frequency for Asia-Pacific and Australia on the product page.

How it works

  • The tool is powered on and searches for the ALTA gateway to which it has been assigned.
  • Once the gateway is identified, the display indicates that the tool is ready for a signal test.
  • Pressing the Signal Test button initiates an RF environment scan and TRUESIGNAL assessment.
  • The tool evaluates usable wireless signal based on measured signal strength and background interference.
  • The test produces a Pass, Poor or Fail result followed by an average TRUESIGNAL percentage.
  • The result can be used to assess proposed sensor installation locations before the sensors are permanently mounted.

Why choose this product

The main advantage of a dedicated site survey tool is the ability to evaluate the wireless environment at the actual proposed installation point.

This is particularly useful where building materials, machinery, storage structures, distance or other obstructions could affect wireless communication. Monnit specifically recommends site surveys for environments such as large commercial buildings, warehouses, high-rise buildings, sporting facilities, hospitals and shipping container or trailer yards.

Benefits

  • Helps identify suitable locations for ALTA wireless sensors.
  • Allows wireless conditions to be checked before permanent sensor installation.
  • Provides a TRUESIGNAL percentage for evaluating usable RF signal.
  • Provides straightforward Pass, Poor or Fail test results.
  • Helps identify locations where additional planning may be required.
  • Can reduce the risk of installing sensors in locations with unsuitable wireless communication conditions.
  • Supports network planning for larger or more obstructed installations.
