MONNIT Remote Wireless Thermostat
MONNIT Remote Wireless Thermostat is a wireless thermostat for remote HVAC monitoring and control. It combines temperature measurement with integrated motion detection to identify occupied and non-occupied conditions, allowing different temperature limits to be applied to each state. Powered through the HVAC system, it provides remote configuration and monitoring without physical adjustment buttons, helping reduce unwanted changes to thermostat settings.
The MONNIT Remote Wireless Thermostat is designed for facilities where HVAC operation needs to be monitored and adjusted without relying on local manual controls.
An integrated motion sensor detects occupancy and allows the thermostat to distinguish between occupied and non-occupied conditions. Separate minimum and maximum temperature settings can be configured for these states, allowing the HVAC system to respond differently depending on whether an area is in use.
The thermostat has no physical adjustment buttons. This helps prevent unauthorised changes to configured HVAC settings. A hardware configuration lockout jumper provides an additional method of preventing setting changes, including remote changes through the iMonnit platform when the lockout is enabled.
How it works
- The thermostat is powered from the HVAC system using a 12 VAC to 24 VAC supply.
- It measures the temperature and communicates readings wirelessly using the ALTA 433 MHz platform.
- The integrated motion sensor detects occupancy within its specified detection area.
- Occupied and non-occupied states can have separate minimum and maximum temperature limits.
- HVAC operation can be monitored and configured remotely through the Monnit system.
- A physical configuration jumper can be used to lock the thermostat settings.
Why choose this product
- Remote HVAC management: Provides wireless monitoring and remote configuration rather than relying solely on local thermostat adjustments.
- Occupancy-based operation: Motion detection allows HVAC settings to respond differently when an area is occupied or unoccupied.
- Reduced unauthorised adjustment: The absence of physical adjustment buttons and the configuration lockout jumper help protect configured settings.
- Long wireless reach: The manufacturer's datasheet specifies a wireless range of more than 1,200 feet non-line-of-sight, although actual performance depends on the installation environment.
- Built-in data storage: The thermostat can store up to 512 readings per sensor, providing local data retention when required.
Benefits
The MONNIT Remote Wireless Thermostat is useful where HVAC settings need to remain consistent while still allowing authorised personnel to manage the system remotely. Occupancy detection can help reduce unnecessary HVAC operation during periods when an area is not being used.
Its wireless architecture can also reduce the need for additional communication cabling between the thermostat and the monitoring system, subject to the requirements of the overall ALTA installation.
