MONNIT Glass Bead Temperature Buffer
MONNIT Glass Bead Temperature Buffer is a glass bead temperature buffer designed for use with Monnit wireless temperature sensors fitted with a probe. The glass beads slow the sensor's response to brief temperature changes caused by events such as refrigeration cycles, door openings and circulating air. This helps the monitoring system capture temperature conditions more consistently and can reduce false alerts in cold storage and refrigeration applications.
Temperature sensors installed in refrigerators, freezers and cold storage areas can be exposed to brief changes in air temperature. Door openings, defrost cycles and air circulation can create temporary fluctuations that may not represent the actual temperature condition of the stored product or monitored environment.
The MONNIT Glass Bead Temperature Buffer helps moderate these rapid changes. The temperature sensor probe is positioned inside a vial containing glass beads, which provides thermal buffering around the sensing element.
How it works
- The temperature sensor's probe is inserted into the glass bead-filled vial.
- The glass beads provide thermal insulation around the probe.
- Rapid changes in surrounding air temperature have a slower effect on the probe.
- The sensor therefore responds more gradually to short-term fluctuations.
- This can help reduce unnecessary temperature alerts caused by temporary events rather than sustained temperature changes.
Why choose this product
The MONNIT Glass Bead Temperature Buffer is useful when the objective is to monitor the temperature of a refrigerated environment without having the sensor respond too quickly to every short-lived change in air temperature.
Monnit states that the glass bead design can slow the sensor's response time by up to 52%. This makes the buffer particularly suited to high-traffic refrigerated areas where doors are frequently opened and closed.
Benefits
- Helps minimise false temperature alerts caused by short-term fluctuations.
- Provides a more gradual sensor response in refrigerated environments.
- Helps maintain more consistent temperature monitoring.
- Suitable for high-traffic cold storage areas where doors are frequently opened.
- Designed as an accessory for Monnit wireless temperature sensors with probes.
