DRAGINO NB-IoT Ultrasonic Distance Detection Sensor
DRAGINO NB-IoT Ultrasonic Distance Detection Sensor is an NB-IoT ultrasonic distance sensor designed to measure the distance between the sensor and a flat object. It provides a measurement range of 280 mm to 7500 mm, with internal temperature compensation to improve measurement reliability. Data can be transmitted to an IoT platform through NB-IoT using MQTT, MQTTS, UDP or TCP, making the sensor suitable for distance monitoring, liquid level measurement, parking systems, object detection and other remote monitoring applications.
The DRAGINO NB-IoT Ultrasonic Distance Detection Sensor is an NB-IoT distance detection sensor designed for remote measurement applications. It uses ultrasonic sensing technology to determine the distance between the sensor and a flat object, while internal temperature compensation is used to improve the reliability of the measurement.
The sensor can transmit measured data to an IoT platform through an NB-IoT network. Dragino supports MQTT, MQTTS, UDP and TCP uplink methods, providing flexibility when connecting the sensor to different IoT servers and platforms.
With a specified measurement range of 280 mm to 7500 mm, the DDS75-NB can be used for applications such as liquid level measurement, horizontal distance measurement, parking management and object presence detection.
How it works
- The ultrasonic sensor emits ultrasonic signals towards the target.
- The device measures the distance between the sensor and the detected object.
- Internal temperature compensation is used as part of the measurement process.
- The measured distance is transmitted to an IoT platform through the NB-IoT network.
- Data can be sent using MQTT, MQTTS, UDP or TCP.
- The sensor supports periodic uplinks for remote monitoring.
- Multiple measurements can be sampled before an uplink.
- Bluetooth v5.1 can be used for remote configuration and firmware updates.
- Downlink communication allows configuration parameters to be changed remotely.
Why choose this product?
- Wide measurement range: The specified flat-object measurement range extends from 280 mm to 7500 mm.
- Non-contact measurement: Ultrasonic sensing allows distance to be measured without physical contact with the target.
- Direct cellular connectivity: NB-IoT communication allows the sensor to send data without requiring a local LoRaWAN gateway.
- Flexible server connectivity: MQTT, MQTTS, UDP and TCP are supported for different IoT system requirements.
- Long-term battery operation: Dragino specifies an 8500 / 19000 mAh Li/SOCl2 or Solar panel + 3000mAh Li-ion battery for long-term use.
- Remote configuration: Bluetooth v5.1 and downlink configuration reduce the need for physical access during setup and maintenance.
- Outdoor-ready enclosure: The IP66 enclosure provides protection against dust and water ingress for suitable outdoor installations.
Benefits
It can provide continuous distance information for systems that need to monitor changing levels, positions or object presence remotely.
For liquid level applications, the sensor can measure the distance between the sensor and the liquid surface without contacting the liquid. For other applications, the same principle can be used to monitor the position or presence of an object.
Its NB-IoT connection is useful for installations where cellular IoT connectivity is preferred over deploying a separate local wireless gateway.
