DRAGINO NB-IoT LiDAR Distance Sensor with Solar Power Option
DRAGINO NB-IoT LiDAR Distance Sensor with Solar Power Option is an NB-IoT LiDAR ToF distance sensor for wireless measurement of the distance between the sensor and a target. It measures distances from 0.1 to 12 metres at 90% reflectivity, with an accuracy of ±5 cm from 0.1 to 5 metres and ±1% from 5 to 12 metres. Designed for IoT applications, it supports multiple communication protocols, Bluetooth v5.1 configuration, OTA updates and an 8500 / 19000 mAh Li/SOCl2 battery or Solar panel + 3000mAh Li-ion battery.
The DRAGINO NB-IoT LiDAR Distance Sensor with Solar Power Option provides wireless distance measurement for IoT systems using NB-IoT cellular connectivity. Its LiDAR ToF probe measures the distance between the sensor and an object and sends the resulting data to an NB-IoT IoT server.
The sensor can measure from 0.1 to 12 metres when the target has 90% reflectivity. For a target with 10% reflectivity, the specified measurement range is 0.1 to 4 metres. The manufacturer specifies a distance resolution of 1 cm.
The DRAGINO NB-IoT LiDAR Distance Sensor with Solar Power Option supports several data uplink methods, including MQTT, MQTTs, UDP and TCP. This gives system integrators options for connecting the sensor with different IoT platforms and server architectures.
How it works
- The LiDAR probe emits light towards the target.
- The sensor uses Time of Flight measurement to determine the distance to the object.
- The measured distance is processed by the sensor.
- Measurement data is transmitted wirelessly through the NB-IoT network.
- Data can be sent using MQTT, MQTTs, UDP or TCP.
- The sensor supports periodic uplinks and downlink configuration.
- Bluetooth v5.1 can be used for remote configuration and firmware updates.
- Multiple samples can be taken before a single uplink, according to the configured operating mode.
Why choose this product?
- NB-IoT connectivity: Allows distance data to be transmitted directly through an NB-IoT cellular network rather than requiring a local LoRaWAN gateway.
- LiDAR measurement: Provides non-contact distance measurement using laser technology.
- Long measurement range: Measures up to 12 metres under the specified 90% reflectivity condition.
- Flexible data communication: Supports MQTT, MQTTs, UDP and TCP.
- Remote configuration: Bluetooth v5.1 and downlink configuration provide options for device management.
- Long-term battery operation: Dragino specifies an 8500 / 19000 mAh Li/SOCl2 or Solar panel + 3000mAh Li-ion batterybattery for long-term use.
- Outdoor-capable enclosure: The sensor has an IP65-rated enclosure.
Benefits
The NB-IoT LiDAR Distance Sensor with Solar Power Option can provide distance information without requiring physical contact with the monitored object. This makes it useful where the sensor needs to remain separate from the material, vehicle, equipment or object being measured.
Its NB-IoT connectivity also allows the sensor to be deployed as part of a cellular IoT system, while its supported communication protocols provide flexibility when integrating measurement data into different platforms.
