ACREL Prefabricated Substation Protection & Control Device
ACREL Prefabricated Substation Protection & Control Device is a protection and control device designed for prefabricated substations used in photovoltaic, battery energy storage and wind power applications. It combines protection, control, electrical measurement, communication and networking functions in a single device, with extensive I/O, RS485 communication, Ethernet networking and fault recording capabilities.
The ACREL Prefabricated Substation Protection & Control Device Prefabricated Substation Protection & Control Device combines several substation functions within one device. It is designed specifically for prefabricated step-up substations associated with photovoltaic generation, battery energy storage and wind power systems.
The device provides multiple AC voltage and current channels for HV-side and LV-side acquisition, together with digital inputs and configurable dry-contact outputs. It also provides 4-20 mA measurement channels, temperature measurement and analogue transmitter outputs for integration with associated equipment.
For communications, the ACREL Prefabricated Substation Protection & Control Device provides eight RS485 ports for inverter and auxiliary-device data acquisition. It also supports three Ethernet ports, two optical-module slots and fibre-optic ring networking. Communication protocols include Modbus-RTU and IEC 60870-5-103.
How it works
- Electrical measurement: The device acquires HV and LV voltage and current signals for substation monitoring.
- Protection and control: Digital inputs and configurable outputs allow the device to monitor and control connected substation equipment.
- Data acquisition: Eight RS485 ports can be used to collect information from inverters and auxiliary devices.
- Signal processing: 4-20 mA inputs, analogue outputs and temperature measurement channels support additional field signals.
- Event and fault recording: Settings, event records and fault waveform records can be exported, while system logs and fault records support analysis.
- Network communication: Ethernet and fibre-optic networking provide communication between the device and wider substation systems.
Why choose the AM6-PWC?
- Combines protection, control, measurement and communication functions in one device.
- Provides a substantial number of electrical, digital and analogue I/O channels.
- Supports communication with inverters and auxiliary equipment through multiple RS485 ports.
- Provides Modbus-RTU and IEC 60870-5-103 communication.
- Includes event and fault waveform recording for operational analysis.
- Supports fibre-optic ring networking for substation communication.
- Designed specifically around prefabricated substations used in renewable energy projects.
Benefits
The ACREL Prefabricated Substation Protection & Control Device can help consolidate monitoring and control functions within a prefabricated substation rather than requiring separate devices for each function. Its combination of electrical measurement, configurable I/O and communications makes it suitable for installations where several types of field equipment need to be monitored and connected to a common control system.
Its event and fault recording functions can also provide useful information when investigating abnormal operating conditions or reviewing system events.
